<description>You know that when you were heathens, you went to dumb idols, according as you were led.
Wherefore, I give you to understand that no man, speaking by the Spirit of God, saith Anathema to Jesus. And no man can say The Lord Jesus, but by the Holy Ghost.
Now there are diversities of graces, but the same Spirit.
And there are diversities of ministries. but the same Lord.
And there are diversities of operations, but the same God, who worketh all in all.
And the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man unto profit.
To one indeed, by the Spirit, is given the word of wisdom: and to another, the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit:
To another, faith in the same spirit: to another, the grace of healing in one Spirit:
To another the working of miracles: to another, prophecy: to another, the discerning of spirits: to another, diverse kinds of tongues: to another, interpretation of speeches.
But all these things, one and the same Spirit worketh, dividing to every one according as he will.

<description>And to some who trusted in themselves as just and despised others, he spoke also this parable:
Two men went up into the temple to pray: the one a Pharisee and the other a publican.
The Pharisee standing, prayed thus with himself: O God, I give thee thanks that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, as also is this publican.
I fast twice in a week: I give tithes of all that I possess.
And the publican, standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes towards heaven; but struck his breast, saying: O God, be merciful to me a sinner.
I say to you, this man went down into his house justified rather than the other: because every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled: and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

<description>Be mindful that the Lord Jesus Christ is risen again from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my gospel:
Wherein I labour even unto bands, as an evildoer. But the word of God is not bound.
Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with heavenly glory.
But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,
Persecutions, afflictions: such as came upon me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra: what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord delivered me.
And all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

<description>And after these things, the Lord appointed also other seventy-two. And he sent them two and two before his face into every city and place whither he himself was to come.
And he said to them: The harvest indeed is great, but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that he send labourers into his harvest.
Go: Behold I send you as lambs among wolves.
Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
Into whatever house you enter, first say: Peace be to this house.
And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him: but if not, it shall return to you.
And in the same house, remain, eating and drinking such things as they have: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Remove not from house to house.
And into what city soever you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you.
And heal the sick that are therein and say to them: The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

<description>Now these things were done in a figure of us, that we should not covet evil things, as they also coveted.
Neither become ye idolaters, as some of them, as it is written: The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.
Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them that committed fornication: and there fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them tempted and perished by the serpent.
Neither do you murmur, as some of them murmured and were destroyed by the destroyer.
Now all these things happened to them in figure: and they are written for our correction, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
Wherefore, he that thinketh himself to stand, let him take heed lest he fall.
Let no temptation take hold on you, but such as is human. And God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that which you are able: but will make also with temptation issue, that you may be able to bear it.

<description>And when he drew near, seeing the city, he wept over it, saying:
If thou also hadst known, and that in this thy day, the things that are to thy peace: but now they are hidden from thy eyes.
For the days shall come upon thee: and thy enemies shall cast a trench about thee and compass thee round and straiten thee on every side,
And beat thee flat to the ground, and thy children who are in thee. And they shall not leave in thee a stone upon a stone: because thou hast not known the time of thy visitation.
And entering into the temple, he began to cast out them that sold therein and them that bought.
Saying to them: It is written: My house is the house of prayer. But you have made it a den of thieves.
And he was teaching daily in the temple. And the chief priests and the scribes and the rulers of the people sought to destroy him.
